Distance and hiking conditions
This peaceful, 4 mile out and back single-track trail takes you from the Chaparral Picnic area and the Jawbone Parking area to Prewett Point and back. Prewett Point offers expansive views of the High Peaks and the Balconies Cliffs.
The trail begins by traveling next to the West Fork of Chalone Creek. There is a wooden footbridge across the creek. The trail begins to climb to the viewpoint after that. The dominant ecosystem along the trail is shrubby chaparral. You won't have much shade along this hike. You can also access this trail from the West Pinnacles Visitor Contact Station and the Prewett Point Trail.
